From Russian Anzacs in Australian History:
There were [...] men with ethnic Russian families who joined up [...]. There were also the occasional family tragedies, like John Elfimoff’s. He was a miner from Mount Morgan and had three children; his wife eloped with another Russian, which probably pushed John, who was already over 40 years old, into enlisting.
