Education Programs:
Bushland Appreciation
and Regeneration for Schools
Apace has developed
an environmental education programme for children as a positive response
to community concerns over the deteriorating state of the environment.
The programme aims to: · Help students acquire an awareness and
sensitivity to the natural environment · Help students develop a
basic understanding of the environment and its relationship to themselves
· Provide students with an opportunity to be actively involved in
environmental protection.
The schools programme
consists of four, two hour sessions. Students are introduced to a bushland
site nearest their school for bush appreciation and plant identification.
They travel to Apace to learn propagation techniques in our fully equipped
nursery. Apace provides all the necessary equipment and materials. To round
off the programme, students take part in a planting activity at Samson
Park in Fremantle, as part of the City of Fremantle's revegetation programme.
